We found out that we are having a girl. I'm excited about that, Lucy will have a buddy close to her age.
Potential names: Amy, Elayne, Arya, Ruth, Miriam or Isla.

At least once a month I like to hit the local Graywhale and find some music.  Today after the doctor visit I visited Graywhale and found the following:
Pixies at the BBC
Pixies: collection of videos etc.
Miles Davis Birth of Cool.
Monitor This comp. with The Cult and Joe Bonamassa etc.

I can't stop listening to the Mile Davis; it has a relaxing yet inspirational flow. This partclar CD has recordings from 1949 and 1950.  I picked up Kind of Blue a few years ago and it quickly became one of my favorite Jazz albums. I took a Jazz appreciation class in college, it was a tough class but it opened my mind to an amazing world of jazz music. Coltrane, Parker, Getz, Glen Miller, Ella Fitzgerald, Thelonius Monk, Duke Ellington and many others.

Peace

Over the last several months I've been to a few concerts, some amazing and others not so much. So here it goes.

Dave and I went to James at the Complex. It has been along time dream to see these guys. I was introduced to them back in 92 I think or 91. Tim Booth came down into the crowd. The show was amazing! They proved that they are one of the best live bands out there.

4 or 5 months later Rachel got me a free ticket to probably my favorite show in many years. OMD! Dave joined us along with Lori and Rachel's friends .

I then benefitted from Jen S not being able to go to Electric Six. The Constellations opened and they were feaking awesome. Electric Six was crazy and entertaining.

Distant Procession

Posted by Alienfloyd

I'm obscured by my thoughts, constantly lost in a stare. The conversation isn't good, this is serious. I cannot proceed. Not now...men in black, faceless apparitions line the halls of my mind. Wisping dangerously through the tarnished thoughts. A glint of hope, a trigger of salvation, a break in the normalcy of degradation.

Approximately 9 years ago I was recording a show at 1:30 am on KRCL on tape. I listened to it the next day and discovered a new band that changed my musical interests for awhile. For better or worse the band was Covenant and the song was Dead Stars. It was instantly appealing and somewhat like a harder DM. I went to Graywhale yesterday and picked up Northern Light by Covenant. I listened to it from start to finish and loved every minute of it. So...

MORE!

Posted by Alienfloyd

More! I want More! Listening to the Sisters of Mercy and really enjoying it. After American Midol I need to wash the bad taste from my brain. Even the really good performances aren't that good. I guess I always hope for More! Great Sister's song"More". Most people probably would be appalled by it, so not sure why I love these guys so much.

I'm so tired, I think the sinus drugs are kicking in....

Insulated and Warm

Posted by Alienfloyd

The quiet hollow cold dry feeling of February came back today. This was the month I left NC and came to the bleak dead land of SLC. A few weeks later I was tearing out hotel rooms wondering what the hell I was doing here. I had that feeling again, triggered by a song from the first CD I bought. Come undone by Duran Duran. I see the beauty of Utah now but it took awhile to appreciate it. 15 years later where do I find myself? A much different person? In many ways yes, but at the core the same. I just need a dehydrator now. I need to make some beef jerky. I need to get on a bike again. See my eyes again..dream alive again. Be ...

It would be so nice.

Note the trees because... they may be gone sooner than later

Feel the breeze...it may grow stale
Listen to the quiet... it may ring in your ears
Forget the past...the future is bright
Is it just a passing phase
My heart is a blaze
My arms to weak to raise
Dreams in foggy bliss.
With this last kiss
I miss.

Law of unintended consequences.

Posted by Alienfloyd

I have thought a lot about death and choices this week. I've thought about conspiracy theories and federal auditors. Do people still have their heads buried in the sand unaware of what is going on around them?

First of all my heart goes out to my sister and brother-in-law and the loss of a brother this week. I can only imagine how hard it is and how devastating. I am impressed with how strong they are and I' m impressed with the choice to be an organ donor that I assume was made prior.

We had the government regulators show up at our doorstep on Monday at work. It always causes stress and makes everyone on edge. Fortunately it went well.

I firmly believe there are very real powers that our attempting to destroy America and take away or freedom. I recently read the Alliance form Gerald Lund. This book takes on the topic of forced compliance to fit a set of societal rules. The loss of freedom ...are we ready to give it all up so the government can do whats best for us. I 'm not really ready for that.

We see that terrorists are still out there..so conspiracy experts? Was 9/11 really a government conspiracy...please they can't get cash for clunkers right , how the heck can they organize 9/11.
Incompetence is rampant.

When a young life is stopped everything that could have been, never happens, that is the real tragedy. The choices made can have far reaching effects. There are things in my life that I wish never happened, the consequences I will probably never fully realize.

Cherish life , cherish your relationships, forgive freely and often and never hold grudges.

Peace.

The siren sweetly singing

Posted by Alienfloyd

I have many things to be grateful for , my mustache, my calfskin wallet with no money, black socks and the surprise flash of freezing water on the faces of us all at work. Thank you..you know who you are. I found lots of good music this weekend, none of which I will share right now. I learned I still love the UFC and want Spike back. Gerald Lund is a good author but a bit formulaic. I ran for the first time in a month and I feel sore and hungry. I will read the Old Testament again this year, that actually excites me. I want to see "On the Waterfront " again. I want to bathe in the River Styx while singing Come Sail Away and Tales of Ulysses. I want to be an American and kick out all the commies. I wan to camp in below freezing weather because I can.

I want a salty pretzel.
I want to be respected by my children not feared. I want a cold Vanilla cream soda. I want to find the peace of mind that comes with knowing who I am and wear I am going. I want to stare down the Sun and win. I want to put my thought to paper and see the events unfold.
I want.

Metanoeo

Posted by Alienfloyd

It is with a humble heart I sit down to compose a few words. It was good to be with family this Christmas weekend. We began with Christmas eve at Mike and Shana's. Christmas Day at our home and then a dinner at my parents with all my brothers and sisters and family. Prime rib at Chuck and Judy's on Saturday an then Quinn's blessing on Sunday. I felt at ease for the first time in many years. It was fun, the kids had fun.

Christmas day I was living on three consecutive days of 4-5 hours of sleep and it had caught up to me. I was grumpy, trying really hard to stay focused and enjoy the day. It took the surprise smile of a little man poppin' up in front of me unexpectedly. It took me a few seconds to realize it was Max, Lindsey's boy. Those few minutes brightened my day and made me forget my grumpiness.

I 've always been sensitive to contention. I hate it, I despise yelling, arguing for malicious intent and tormenting of the innocent. Ironically it causes me to become angry. This is followed by depression and self loathing for becoming that which I hate. A little insight into me. Take it for what its worth.

I'm really excited to have a big boy Ipod, I still love my shuffle for running. Thanks Dave and Lori, bytheway Dave repairs Ipods http://www.mypooripod.com/

I will miss my brother when he moves away to CO.

Tim blessed Quinn today. Tim your awesome!

LST Tomorrow.

Peace
